Re: New analysis of Nikon E series production numbers, should be a bit more accurate
Of course, immediately after I redid the analysis and posted the new one, someone on a Facebook camera group gave me a new serial number, E2N 7300125 Adding that makes the table Model Production E2 321 E2N 687 E2Ns 125 E2S 198 E3 449 E3S 220 DS-505 206 DS-505A 225 DS-515 98 DS-515A 30 DS-560 322 DS-...

New analysis of Nikon E series production numbers, should be a bit more accurate
I went through today and consolidated all the E series serial numbers that have been posted through April 2020. I posted a anew list that is presently at the end of the serial number thread http://nikonweb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=48&p=3747#p3747 I did it so I could update the analysis ...

Re: Nikon E-series serial numbers
I've gone through and (I'm pretty sure) consolidated all the serial numbers posted in this thread to date, through Stan's April 2020 post, because I wanted to udate my previous production estimates. I'll post the new analysis in a new thread. Depite having a fair amount more data, it hasn't changed ...

DCS "100" camera/winder/back serial number?
I got lucky a while ago on eBay USA; my long running search for Kodak Nikon F3 found a DCS in very nice condition as part of a job lot including a few other old digital cameras. I have the F3, winder, back, but not the external DSU box or the rest of the kit--still I'm really happy. Although I bough...

Re: End of the (Collectors) Line? – Nikon D2X
I'm more or less the same--I bought a D2x new in 2005, sold it in 2010, and bought a used one for $300 a couple of years ago to collect as I missed it--it's an extremely usable camera even now, except in low light, as in my opinion the image quality deteriorates quite a bit above about ISO 400, and ...

Re: Some News about my Kodak DCS200ci
I'm probably too late to be of any help with this, but one thing that can help get rid of moire is to use an aperture small enough that diffraction softens the image slightly. Given the low pixel density of the DCS200 sensor, that would probably mean at least f 16 and maybe even 22 or 32, though.

Re: New analysis of Nikon E and Fuji DS production numbers
It would be interesting to try it for Kodak Nikon models, using a list of Kodak serial numbers. I think there is one, if I recall, that covers lots of models. I'll have to give it try and see what happens. Need to find the list, first though. I think at least one has been mentioned on the Kodak sect...

New analysis of Nikon E and Fuji DS production numbers
I ran across this very interesting (to me) article on Wikipedia while looking for a way to answer a work-related question: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_tank_problem To save you looking it up, here's the description--In the statistical theory of estimation, the problem of estimating the maximu...

E2, E2s E2N manuals available for download at Nikonusa
I'm sure this is new--as the subject line says, the full pdf manual for the E2 and E2s, with an E2N supplement as a separate file, are available on the nikonusa.com website in the service & support section along with other dslr manuals. This is a big change from a few years ago when as far as I ...

Nikon marketing updated mirrorless DS-505A -- Reuters!
No kidding, this appeared in my Google news feed this morning, and it isn't even April 1. http://in.reuters.com/article/2011/09/08/idINIndia-59233720110908 Have a look quickly before it disappears. I saved it into a pdf file, just in case. Be sure to hover your cursor over the image so you see the c...

Re: USB PCMCIA memory card reader??
Hi Nico Thanks. I had a look and they do have them. Sort of expensive and the ordering process appears to be complex, especially if you are outside the USA. Your reply prompted me to try a bunch of searches on eBay and Google, mostly finding nothing and also a few similar things. However, I did find...

USB PCMCIA memory card reader??
Hi all Just wondering if anyone knows whether it is possible to get a card reader that reads full sized PCMCIA memory cards as used in our vintage DSLRs that has a USB interface and will thus work with modern computers? I have one with a SCSI interface, and I have a couple of old laptops that read P...

Re: DCS file converter and rd-175
Jarle, thanks for putting together the converter, its great to have another easy to use option Re the rd-175, you can cut files from a memory card and paste them onto your hard drive (frees the space on the memory card) then run the original Minolta software and tell it to read files. This works fin...
