Re: DCS100 sold for 300 Br. Pounds

John, thanks for the reply- I understand if a floppy drive isn't readily available, I'm sure I've got one somewhere as well, but I'd have to dig through some old computers to find one, and then figure out how to get it from floppy to the internet. I'm just curious as to what came with the original d...

Re: DCS100 sold for 300 Br. Pounds

John, Congratulations on your acquisition- I'll also be interested in any photos that you're able to process and retrieve from the camera. If you have the chance, would you be able to make a copy of the files on the 3.5 floppy disks and post to the website? (or email to me, I can post/ or host them ...

Re: Help Needed with DCS-100

Stan, I'll dig out my DCS-100 kit and get the specs, make/model of the battery- I'm sure it could be replicated/ re-celled - or perhaps even still found in stock- it was a regular camcorder-type battery from back when camcorders used full-size VHS tapes, pretty hefty. The special cable (9pin D shell...

Re: Help Needed with DCS-100

Christoph, Welcome to this website- start by reading the excellent history of the DCS-100 on this website, at : http://www.nikonweb.com/dcs100/ At the bottom of that web page are links to a scanned copy of the original DCS-100 user's manual - feel free to download and read that first. If you go back...

Re: Complete DCS 100- new sales record $5558

Thanks, I hadn't gotten used to writing "2013" yet....

Possible a certified NASA used on-orbit DCS camera might fetch it's original price... not sure if any other one would, unless a 1-off prototype (like the Hawkeye) or other specialized sensor (IR maybe?)

Good observation- I had not noticed that detail.... which might explain the increase in value.

Re: New analysis of Nikon E and Fuji DS production numbers

I think the Kodak DCS list you're thinking of is at this website: http://www.killingforculture.com/random/index.php?m=DCS I have also downloaded the list into excel format, PM me if you want a copy- or I'll see if I can post the file here for others to use. I'll post the numbers here as well, for re...

Re: New analysis of Nikon E and Fuji DS production numbers

That was a very good analysis... especially as to it's origin in estimating the WWII tank production.

Would a similar analysis using the DCS 100 prove useful as a comparison check ? (Since we have a pretty firm idea of the total number produced, supposedly ~970 or so?)

Re: World's first DSLR. Made by Eastman Kodak Company in 1987.

I emailed the author to express my appreciation for his effort in documenting this era of digital imaging.. he replied as follows: " Thank you for the kind note! - It's gratifying to see the growing interest in the old cameras. I really enjoyed the years of work on these products, and now I am ...

3/26/2012- 3 Kodak DCS 100's from 1 seller:

Originally 3 Kodak DCS 100's were listed by 1 seller, (as of 1800 GMT there are currently 2 left- just the Kodak DCS 100 bodies with digital imaging back, winder and Nikon F3 body, only the first one had the DSU storage unit) - all from 1 seller. I have emailed him to ask about their history. This s...

Re: DSC DC3

Can you post some pictures of the back and bottom of the camera? The M3 imager resided on an attachment that took the place of the regular film back- which from appearances this camera doesn't have. From the pictures you have, it looks more like a regular Nikon F3.

Multiple cameras- possible use

While I can't confirm that the cameras being sold on Ebay are the ones used as such, several (over 60+) similar digital cameras are used to film the "Bullet Time" special effects (as used for the MATRIX trilogy of movies as well as other movies and commercials). Search on "Bullet Time...

Re-check of serial numbers

Just to confirm, I checked my Nikon E3s and yes, the serial number is 9100024. Not sure about the duplicate w/ the DS 565. Also, while we're on the subject of Nikon vs Fujix, I'll revisit the issue of the Fujix DS-505a vs the Nikon E2s... on the examples I have, the Fujix DS-505A has a much slimmer/...
