Re: Nikon unveils J1 and V1 mirrorless cameras
Hi, the new CX-frame cameras may produce reasonable images. It is a pity that the 'older' FX-lenses can be used with a crop factor of 2.7 only. I am not afraid to drop the - one century old - 24x36 mm frame/size/reference, but what replaces it, should be acceptable. We were just used to the DX-size ...

Re: Nikon unveils J1 and V1 mirrorless cameras
I fully agree with you Jarle. These cameras are for the point-and-shoot consumers, though. They are not to compete with the Leica, Sony NEX, etc. A faster lens may not be necessary if high ISO-setting results are acceptable. Nikon has shown with the P7000-series that Canon has the better prosumer co...

Re: NC-2000e battery question
Hi, Here in Holland I know a Nikon dealer/collector (NHS member) who is able to produce batteries on demand. Look at his site (www.accuman.nl) and tell him your wishes. Wouter Oosterbaan Martinius in Haarlem (Holland) is a respected Nikon expert, so he might be able to help you. Regards, Nico www.ni...

Re: Nikon marketing updated mirrorless DS-505A -- Reuters!
Hi Stan (and others),
At the Photokina 1994 the E2 (DS-505) was introduced, but became for sale on February 15, 1995; together with the E2S (DS-515). The E2N was introduced on September 2, 1996 and the E2Ns on November 7, 1996.
Regards,
Nico

Re: USB PCMCIA memory card reader??
Hi again,
yes, these adapters are not cheap. I'll ask my son, who works and lives in China, whether there are cheap (and working) devices. I could use one too. The ebay-shop you pointed at is in Shensen.
Stay tuned!

Nico

Hi Frank, your Canon EOS1n alias DCS-520 may use the ELPAC 885047 AC-adapter. Try ebay to find one.

Re: NikonWeb.com DCS File Converter ver 0.2
Hi friends, you may try PhotoStacker PRO 1.10, once (1994) made by Ultima Electronics. It is a simple software opening nearly everything (except NEF), working under various Windows (from 3.1.1. up to XP) and free to get. I can sent it per email as it is just 3 Mb. I use it for older image files etc....

Re: SONY Video Camera HVC-4000P for sale
Indeed, Stan, it is an old (1981) video camera with a Videcon tube, good for 260 lines. You need to carry a Betamax recorder (SL-F1UB or SL-2000) and a battery pack (BCP-220) on your back. In 1983 Sony introduced the Betamax camcorder (with built-in taperecorder). For collectors of older video camer...

SONY Video Camera HVC-4000P for sale
Hi friends, anybody interested in a nice Sony HVC-4000P video camera in its original case? No recorder, nor microphone included. It has a Sonoptor 1.4/11-70mm macro-lens, built-in mono-mic, Sony Trinicon sensor and HVF-2000PA electronic viewfinder.

Re: Impressive online backup/storage - CrashPlan
"in addition to local backups" is an extra precaution. I am not so fond of cloud computing, of which this online storage is one feature. What happens if.............(fill in your own scenario)? The development of solid state memory devices is going fast, as a regular hard disc may fail. I ...

Re: Blog post: Nikon D Family 1999 – 2011
Is it possible, Stan, that the built-in software wasn't capable to manage the huge amount of sensor/pixel data? And what about the power consumption. The Nikon engineer stated that the latter was a great problem. I have a regular D1X and an upgraded D1X; the latter cannot be used with a fresh standa...

Re: Blog post: Nikon D Family 1999 – 2011
Hi, it may be interesting to read the interview with Mr. Kiyoshige Shibazaki, known as the developer of the Nikon D1. He is claiming in that interview (http://imaging.nikon.com/history/scenes/12/) that the D1 sensor has 10.8 Mp.!! I have the three D1's and love the D1H, as it is fast and has the bes...

Hi Jarle and others! It is a very nice and comprehensive overview of the development of Nikon's first digital camera. Please allow me to ad a little story I have written - a few years ago - on the history on digital imaging (http://www.nicovandijk.net/digitalhistory.htm) ? All together we can unite/...
