C for Camera

Stan Disbrow wrote:Now, maybe the 'C' at the end stands for the third pass through development.
Don't think so. I'm almost certain that the 'C' stands for 'Camera'. In fact, I'll bet you a beer that it does!

Re: QV1000C

I'm not sure about 'QV', but it's probably safe to assume 'V' stands for 'Video'. Now I'm not so sure about the 'V' anymore. Casio have a whole range of 'QV' cameras, starting with the QV-10 released in March 1995. Apparently (I haven't yet been able to verify this), 'QV' stands for 'QuickView' in ...

Re: QV1000C

Correct. There's no color version. B/W only. Canon had a similar model two years earlier (1986), RC-701 - with 'RC' meaning 'Realtime Camera', and Nikon's first prototype was named Nikon SVC, meaning 'Still Video Camera'. There's little doubt that the 'C' stands for 'Camera'. I'm not sure about 'QV'...

QV-1000C

Reading the article on the Nikon website, it sounds as if the production of the QV-1000c was on the same order as the "E" series, totalling a few hundred. There's no doubt there were made far fewer QV-1000C's than E cameras. According to the Nikon article 'only hundreds pieces exist in th...

Weekend trip to Paris

As some of you may have noticed, I've been quiet for a few days.

Here's the reason: http://www.nikonweb.com/paris2005/

Re: Kodak DCS 100 DSU storage unit on Ebay

It's obviously very difficult to price these old things, but if you really need it (meaning 'want it' :) ) I guess $200 is a fair price. Still, I won't be surprised if the unit isn't sold. Another DSU was sold a while ago for around $80, BTW. Another related question: Is there any way you can get yo...

Re: NIKON E2S FOR SALE

Considering the two extra lenses and other stuff I guess $1200 isn't too bad (remember, I'm used to Norwegian prices, incl. 25% VAT), but still too much. I have all the lenses I need. Did you read the description? '...capable of super high resolution' :D The DS-505A (E2N) is the same Hong Kong camer...

Nikon / Fujix model numbers

Hi Indy,

Glad we could figure it out!

(Funny thing, I just saw one of the Indiana Jones movies again a few days ago!)

Re: Nikon vs Fuji model numbers

Hi Stan, I'm afraid I'll have to disagree. Take a look at this Fujifilm page: http://home.fujifilm.com/info/products/digital/camera/ds505a/spec.html The DS-505A/515A are listed together. I still believe that DS-505A = E2N and 515A = E2Ns. Both share the same spec, except 'Continuous, high-speed shoo...

Re: Nikon vs Fuji model numbers

Nikon E2s = Fuji DS-505a Hi Stan, Are you sure about this one? According to another source: 'The Fujix DS-515, also available from Nikon as the E2S..' http://www.epi-centre.com/reports/9508cs.html Take a look at these photos by Nathan Drummond: http://www.nikonweb.com/baseplate/ I believe these are...

DS-565 compatible CF cards

As previously reported, my DS-565 (E3S) works with a 128 MB TwinMOS card in a Canon PCMCIA adapter. Much to my surprise, it also works with a 512 MB Ridata card (no special formatting or anything -- the card came straight from a Nikon D100)! A 1 GB Ridata card did not work. Tested the same cards (12...

Agfa ActionCam (link to NikonWeb article)

Agfa ActionCam (1996 Agfa/Minolta 1.75 megapixel DSLR):

It's no Nikon (or Kodak), but someone may find it interesting. If nothing else, it includes an unusual DCS 420, DS-565, ActionCam comparison shot:

SCSI

Brian Sweeney wrote:Jarle, do you have the SCSI set up? I am using Adaptec 2940 cards winder WIN95b.
Hi Brian,

I don't have SCSI set up on any of my current PC's. I did hope to avoid it, but I guess I'll have to set up an old Win 95 (or 98?) PC to properly work (i.e. play) with these old things..

Thanks,
Jarle
