Re: Kodak Digital Science SCS 2000
According to an earlier reply by former Kodak Professional product manager Jay Kelbley: "The SCS 2000 was like a 720x on steroids, with a ton of sexy gaskets... I don't believe that they were ever sold through "normal" channels..." Source: http://www.nikonweb.com/forum/viewtopic...

Kodak Digital Science SCS 2000
Not much is known about the Kodak Digital Science SCS 2000. Sometimes it was called a military version of the dcs 720x with better weather sealing (it is not) or a version for government use (who knows?). In this thread the SCS 2000 was mentioned as prototype for the DCS 720X (this seems to be true)...

Re: and a ds-515
But 450 USD is a little bit too much for a DS-515. Also when the included AF-Nikkor 4.0-5.6 70-210 mm is considered.avinoam123 wrote: and theres a ds-515 for sell to

Thank you for the explanation. My mistake was to search in the announcements of the 720X on dpreview. But the 720X was only an update of the 620X, so the special sensor design was not mentioned. I know the special suitability for low light from the 720X, bit I did not know the technology behind it. ...

Re: Contax N Digital production
I've no idea of how many were produced. The highest serial N° I got is 2747. For sure, it's quite rare, we don't see many on e-Bay and they are usually sold in private auctions. It is not one of the rarest, but it is unknown, how many have been withdrawn and destroyed by Kyocera in case of complain...

It's definitly made by Nikon, after-all there is a lotta F4 in these cameras. No. This is a hint, that Nikon delivered parts similar to the F4 for the production - and obviously many parts of the E2/E3 are made by Nikon. If it wasn't made by Nikon one would not find it here in their history: http:/...

Re: Making sense out of these numbers
Actually, regarding no. 5200028, I'm pretty sure I have seen both Nikon E2S and Fujix DS-515 bodies with this exact serial number. I have a photo of the bottom plate (incl. serial number) of the Nikon body, and I'm pretty sure I saw photos of the Fujix bottom plate as well. Unfortunately, I no long...

Re: Making sense out of these numbers
There are a couple of duplicates on the list -9100024 listed twice as an E3s and a DS-565 -5200028 listed twice as an E2s and a DS-515 though these are the same underneath-is this dual listing correct-I thought they only had one model number on them, not two. I mentioned it already earlier in this ...

I don't know the production numbers, but I agree, that the D1H will be rarer than the D1 or D1X. The serial numbers seem to be a good source for production numbers of japanese cameras (in opposite to Nikon cameras from Thailand). Perhaps we should consider also the D2 series. The estimated productio...
