The DS-505a got a bid from a long-time collector. It looks like Jarle's site has convinced the "old-time" Nikon collectors that these early Digitals are the "thing"!

Glad I got my E3!

Just to add: my Sandisk (128mb) and PNY CF (64MByte and 256MByte) cards are also working. I also put the Sandisk into the DCS420C, which recognizes it . These cards were bought last month, and are still current. I suspect that the last firmware release for the Kodak fixed the earlier problems. If yo...

Very interesting!

This forum is becoming more about documenting some history on these early digital cameras, and to keep them running.

Made me Look! I used the Simpletech 256MB CF to store some images and retrieve them with the SCSI Twain drivers. The DCS420c successfully did a write then read/erase cycle with the TWAIN driver. I am running frimware 051998. Under the older firmware, "011997"(? something ending in a 7), I ...

The E3 is working properly, ie Format, Store, and retrieve with my WinME Laptop, .jpg files on a "simpletech 256MByte Compact Flash" card in a generic "Dazzle CompactFlash" adapter. EDIT: The same card and adapter DID work in the DCS420c AFTER upgrading the firmware to the last r...

NEWSFLASH! The E3 worked with a 256MByte "simpletech" Compact Flash card in a generic compactflash adapter! It states "199" remaining shots can be taken, but I did not shoot all the way down. The E3 also works with my 110MByte Sandisk PCMCIA ATA compatible Flashcard. So it looks ...

Well, The 50mm F1.4 and 55mm F2.8 Micro-Nikkor (Both AIS series) produce the same shutter-speed in "A" mode.

The E3 arrived, in great working condition and cosmetically near mint. Good think I have a 28mm F2; vignettes like crazy with the little 35~80 zoom. I "think" that the "F-Stop/ISO equivalent" is some game played by Nikon to account for the ROS. I suspect the sensor is on par with...

I have them burned on disk. I also have the DCS200 TWAIN drivers. I have the batch converter for "KC2->BMP" working. I have also downloaded the EXIF spec and TIFF 6.0 spec. I will be working on it, but it will take longer than the easy .bmp format. If anyone wants it, feel free to ask. Sou...

The E3 has landed.

Well, all 18lbs of my Nikon E3 in its Pelican case arrived today! The MH-16 charged up the battery and I gave everything a quick test with a small memory card. Everything worked. And the manual is complete for it. Good thing, and I will be reading it. The camera works with my SB-29 ring flash in TTL...

I would suggest sending Private PM's to members that we know are looking for these cameras. I also suggest friendly heads-up via PM's of our Ebay names to prevent us from bidding against each other. After all, we may represent the only 8 people that actually have an interest in these cameras!

I feel ancient now. I remember when AI first came out, and my first Nikon was a Nikkormat FT2. I still have that one.

But do you think the E3 will work with my N-F adapter and the 25cm F4? (I worry that it will hang up on the AF contacts like older T-Mount adapters).

I certainly HOPE that Kodak stays in the business of producing professional cameras. A full-frame digital back for the Nikon F6 would be very nice, and give a 1st-rate full-frame digital choice! Of course, we "E" series Nikon owners already HAVE a full-frame camera for use with our manual-...

I considered a Nikon E2 for work "way-back-when". The reduction optics were a plus, but the 8-bit/pixel limit and CCD resolution were behind Kodak at the time. In the end, I held out a few more years and picked up two D1x's. Two cameras and a battery of Micro-Nikkors (60,105,200, and 70-18...

I'll bet they swapped out the KAF-1300 from the original to the KAF-1301 which doubled the sensitivity in the visible region. That would reduce noise and cut down on the "IR" magenta cast problem by one-stop. The KAF 1.3M and 1.6M CCD arrays are still in production and go for >$2K. Too bad...
