Nikon E3 on eBay, ends 7/25

Hi,

This one is already too pricey for me to play with, but I thought I'd point it out, anyway.

Hi, Well, there's two possibilities that come to mind. One is that the back-up battery is in a holder, and the other is that it's soldered to the board. Obviously, one in a holder will be easier to spot as well as to change. In that era, most of the boards had solder-in lithium back-up batteries. Th...

Hi, Well, there will be a little more waiting, I'm afraid. I never did get to swing by the screenprinting shop and pick up the E2 and related stuff on Friday. Actually, it's Monday afternoon, and I still haven't made it by there. I don't know if I'll get there at all this week - just too many other ...

Hi, Well, the Fujix DS-565 arrived this morning. Serial 9200003 (also posted to the serial number thread). It's is decent shape overall. There is a crack in the compound curve near the shutter button, and, of course, the missing selector switch/shutter button. Looks like it took a little bounce off ...

Hi, Originally I thought the same thing: that he was buying stuff to gain what he was missing in a collection, and then reselling what he didn't need. Then, I recalled the storage unit for a Kodak DCS-1, which rang a bell with that eBay ID. Sure enough, he's the one that bought that cheap and then h...

Hi, No, I don't think nsxdream is collecting. He's reselling. He's trying the time-honored auction practice of getting stuff cheap and then moving on to the next auction to see if he can sell it for a profit. I just took a look at both his buying and selling histories, and it's pretty easy to see wh...

Hi, Here in the States, there is a chain of battery specialty stores called Batteries Plus. They sell all sorts of vehicle, equipment (i.e. tractors) and electronics batteries, plus (uh, oh, bad pun there) they will rebuild custom packs like the E-series, QV, etc. If you have an old unit that uses N...

Hi,

Looks like it'll go for about the same as the one I just bought. :)

I notice that it's the same seller, too. Looks like he might have bought a pallet of surplus stuff that had some old DSLRs in it.....

Hi, Well, I have an E3s/565 on the way to keep my E2/505 company. After I saw I'd won the auction last night, I couldn't resist and popped the on/off switch assembly out of my E2. It came out surprisingly easy. I tried lifting the on/off tab with my fingernail, and it appeared that the locking pin w...

Hi, Ah. They were using NiMH at that time. Well, now I understand it all a little better. One of the great features of NiCD is that is can take a 10% charge rate pratcially forever. It will generate oxygen gas from the overchrage, but it will also recombine the O2 back into the electrolyte. So, ther...

Re: How can you tell?

It's probably just me being stupid, but how exactly does this help? Well, it's not so stupid. I don't think that the 400 series packs have the camera serial number on them at all. They might have a pack serial, although I doubt it. These were shrink-wrapped packs, not fancy molded plastic ones. It'...

Hi, I agree. No bidding wars. There are a lot of E-series units out there, and only eight of us at this point, so it should be doable. :) Perhaps a good way to go about it would be to have a thread for each one as they come up, then whomever wants it can post an 'I got it' when they bid. Of course, ...

Hi,

Aw, heck. I didn't know that was you. I figured that no one from here was interested in it since it was broken and no one had posted to the thread saying that they were after it.

Later!

Hi, Well, OK. I did it. I bid on the silly thing. Apparantly, I have contracted a case of Nikon Acqusition Syndrome (NAS) from this group. :) Should I win this, I'll either (a) have a repaired E3s at some point, or (b) a pile of E3s parts...... I'm telling myself that I'll be able to repair this and...
