I won't be able to say anything for a month or more yet--it went to my in-laws' in the USA, and I will pick it up when we next visit them, in October. Frustrating, but it saves a lot on postage. I'm certainly looking forward to having a go with it; scanning cameras suggest some interesting possibili...

Very nice article; I enjoyed it. I also enjoy fisheye photography; there are numerous examples, mostly full-frame or remapped to panoramas using Panorama Tools, on my Pbase site. It is worth experimenting with the FC-E8, which is an extremely high quality optic, mounted on a DSLR wideangle lens. I b...

I bought a Coolpix 100 a while ago for $A 7; it was advertised as not working, but it turned out that the only problem was that someone had used a computer to delete images, leaving the memory card needing to be reformatted. It is certainly fun to play with, but the image quality leaves a lot to be ...

Congratulations, John I was following both those auctions--looks like good deals on both (fingers crossed that the 460 works). I would definitely think the 460 will become your "user". It has spectacularly good resolution, I think 1800-2000 lines/picture height, and as long as you don't un...

Off Topic: Agfa StudioCam

Sorry for the off topic nature of this post, but it does use Nikon lenses, at least. I thought others here might be interested. I just bought a new-in-box Agfa StudioCam from nsxdream on eBay via the make-an-offer plan for $175. He sold one about a month ago for $159; I should probably have offered ...

Hi, Cheng. It sounds like you really want to take pictures with one of these. I don't know what your budget is, but if you can possibly stand about $150-250 US or maybe a little more I would wait for a DCS 460 or DCS 460 back only to come up. The image quality on those is stunning, about the equival...

Hi, yes, when I bid on things that can only go to the USA I am Autograflex; (another collecting interest). I found that it is possible to download the dcs200 manuals from Kodak, even though it is not mentioned (that I could find) on their support site; in fact it is even possible to download the DCS...

Well, I won one lot (the one John wasn't bidding on). As usual with USA-only items I have had them shipped to my in-laws, who know nothing at all about cameras and can't even tell me what condition they are in, so I won't have any idea what I actually have until October, when I visit them. I have al...

Thnaks very much for the responses. I really appreciate them. It is great to have found such a helpful, friendly community of people with a common interest. A little story--I've been interested in cameras and photography since I was a kid, and have had a moderate collection of old film cameras since...

E series battery interchangability?

Yet another question. In his writeup on the DS-565, Jarle mentioned using a battery from his E2 in his DS-565. I was wondering, can you go the other way? Now that I have a working EN-3, would that power an E2 series camera? Seems like it would. Just thinking ahead; that could make a difference in my...

Yes, thanks for the info. I will put in a sniping bid for the first lot, but won't bid on the second one, to avoid competing with John.

Actually, now that I take a really good look at those images there is something _really_ odd about them. Compare them to the image of the previous lot sold by the same guy: http://cgi.ebay.com/Kodak-DCS-200-CCD-digital-adapter-for-SLR-camera_W0QQitemZ300000291870QQihZ020QQcategoryZ29971QQssPageNameZ...

I hadn't realized that the "TIF"/RAW files aren't 16 bit. I have now tried out Jarle's excellent RAW PhotoDesk program, which loads E3 TIF files and can interpolate them up a bit in size, using Lanczos interpolation. The final image quality is a lot better than when shooting straight to JP...
