Re: Nikon Df

Hi, Well, I have been playing 'catch-up' for the past month. Looking very hard at both the Df and the D3. There was a *lot* of things to sort thru in regards to the Df. It seems that there is a lot of confusion and even hate out there, much of it from folks that didn't bother to actually try one. Pl...

Re: Nikon Z looks a lot like an E series...

Hi, Hmmm. I don't see an AI ring on the adapter, and that is the usual Why Not for Non-AI lenses. With a full skirt, NAI damages the AI tab. This is why the Df takes NAI lenses. It has a flip-up tab. The only other DSLRs that can are those based on the F5 (Kodak), which was the last camera from Niko...

Nikon Z looks a lot like an E series...

Hi, ...with the F lens adapter on it. At least it does in all these pics of the thing I keep getting emails about. Am I the only one who sees a resemblance between a Z7 with an adapter and the E2? Maybe they are trying to get me to buy a new Z and an adapter and take side-by shots to post here? :P I...

Re: DCS 760M on the Bay

Hi,

This one has been listed for several cycles, at the higher price. This listing has the price lowered. So, you have seen this one before.

Stan

Edit: There was one other on there recently, and it was faulty. I don't think it sold, just ran out of time.

Re: DCS 760M on the Bay

Hi, I would say a 760m will outperform a 760c by a factor of 3 since there is no CFA on the sensor. Back when, I really wanted one for this reason. But, they were Unobtainium at the time, so I also went with a 760c and a plug-in. Now, I am lazy. That plug-in lets me play with virtual filters. A real...

Five DCS 400 series on the Bay today

Hi, A seller in AU posted five auctions on eBay today. 410c, 420c, 460c, 460m and 420m. All stated to be working. Looks like the liquidation of a collection. Here is a link to the 460m auction: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Kodak-DCS-460M-N90S-Body-Camera-FULL-WORKING-EXCELLENT-condition/283182675155?has...

Re: Digital back for old film cameras

Hi,

The current state of microelectronics would certainly allow for this. But, they won't do such a thing for economic reasons. There is more dough in selling an entire unit. And, what we see in the Df is probably a one-off. From my reading up on it, they still haven't sold them all.

Re: What determines collectability?

Hi, Quite a list! Mine is a lot shorter. I have the Ansco box camera which was my Mom's and an Argus 35mm rangefinder an aunt gave me as a teenager. And, the F4 which is the only film SLR I kept after going digital. I have had more DSLRs than I currently have. There was a merry-go-round there where ...

Hi,

Yeah. Folks who think the Kodak digital backs on Nikon F5's looked kludgey ought to see this. ;)

Re: Digital back for old film cameras

Hi, I see several Nikon back covers. F, F2, F3, etc. Even the FM and FA. So, it might be something fun to play with. I was thinking about grabbing an FA once I get a Df just for comparison. I had an FA long ago and it was my favorite film body. The one I kept, though, was my F4. It hasn't had batter...

Re: Digital back for old film cameras

Hi, Hmmmm. Yes, a little late. But, then, in the video he says it took thousands of prototypes to get here. Man, if we took more than four turns of the prototype crank we'd have been in trouble! :P Maybe he is adding up P units built, not cycles. We always ran a final Pre-series to demo manufacturab...

Re: What determines collectability?

Hi, Oh, yes. I am having fun. That has to be the most important aspect (pun intended). I went to a really cool local photo shop in Raleigh yesterday. The entire place looks like a collection of everything from the most current to the most vintage. My focus (yeah, two puns) was for one zoom lens for ...

Re: What determines collectability?

Hi, Yeah. Every one is collectible! Of course they are. :) I was just sitting here trying to figure out just when a unit went from 'old' to 'vintage' to 'collectible'. ;) As I thought about it, I thought about it from an electronics point of view and came up with three generations. These things are ...
