Re: Minolta RD-175 on eBay
Well, I just bought one on eBay Australia. Not a particular bargain, but has the full outfit, including a SCSI cable and lens, but apparently minus a memory card. I will see if the software is still downloadable, and if my antique computer with the SCSI card in it still works (haven't fired it up in...

Re: Coolpix 300 wanted
I hadn't noticed this thread before. I have two of them. Will check and if they both work I'd be happy to come to some arrangement with Nico, if he's still looking. They are kind of cool gadgets.

Re: DCS 560 Infrared--a trick for monochrome IR
A trick with IR shots-- It may not work with a 760 nm IR filter, and may not work with some versions of the filter arrays on various digital cameras, but try shooting raw, and using dcraw with automatic white balance and -d (document mode, does not demosaic) to develop. With an 800 or so nm filter o...

Re: What glue for DCS 14n grip rubber?
Thanks very much, Stan. I'll see if I can source some old-fashioned contact cement. I'll look for lots of warnings on the label.
Had a look at the tape--the price _is_ impressive. Maybe not quite worth its weight in gold but worth far more than its weight in silver.
Cheers,
Ross

What glue for DCS 14n grip rubber?
Hi, I've got my recently purchased bargain-basement DCS 14n into almost nice shape. Fixed the pushed-in remote socket, have now more or less fixed the taped-on multi-selector; used a small piece of thin double-sided foam tape, with a hole drilled in the center for the remains of the original mountin...

Re: My new DCS 14n
I emailed Kodak Professional as suggested by Jarle, and amazingly to me received a nice personal reply the next day. Apparently the part is available from Nikon, but what has probably happened is that the end of the plastic post in the centre of the button has broken off, and doing the repair proper...

Re: OT: Original Apple 1 sold for $50,000
I have most of an early Apple-II boxed up on one of my left-over bits shelves. These things originally didn't sell with cases, so mine is in a homemade wooden case. No neat paperwork or photos to go with it, though. Maybe it'll be worth something someday? ... I hadn't thought about the Apple-I on t...

My new DCS 14n
I've been looking for a 14n, 14ns or SLR/n for a reasonable price for ages, mostly because I wanted to play with my Sigma 12-24 full-frame zoom (bought in 2004 to use with a D70) on a full-frame camera. Just today, was delivered a 14n, bought on eBay Australia for $A83. Was advertised as in rough sh...

Re: Nikon E-series serial numbers
Just picked up some cameras shipped to relatives in the USA. Only one new serial number, E2n 7200099, the others are already listed from their eBay listings.
Very odd that although I now have a number of E series, I have yet to get a Fuji DS labeled one; they all have Nikon labels.
Cheers,
Ross

eBay, 31/3/2009
E2, s/n 5200006, eBay item 230333979978, "Buy it Now" price of $US319.
E2, s/n 5300017, eBay item 270365777500, "Buy it Now" price of $US538.20.
Interesting to see if either sells.

Re: NASA 28MM F2.0
The sticker on the lens says class III not for flight, so I would guess it has only been used on Earth. The lens cap is really strange; the lettering style looks like 1950s Nikon to me, and it is a screw-in cap; I've never seen anything quite like it with an AI lens, anyway. I am certainly not inter...

Re: Using the D1
Well, after years of trying to get a bargain D1 series on eBay, I finally scored something reasonable, a D1x with several batteries, charger, AC adapter, all rubber intact and not bad cosmetic condition, all working fine, for about $A380. I settled on the D1x as model of choice because it has (just)...

Re: Who won this DS-505A?
Don't know who won that one, but I won this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=380075397534 which I think is an even better deal, considering that it came with 60mm and 105mm AF Micro Nikkors, batteries, charger, etc. I suspect that after selling ...
