Re: Leica M9 - love at first light (NikonWeb article)

Thank you very much, Jarle, for this honest review. As you know fame is fleeting and pride goes before a fall. I think the Leica-M story has become a fairy-tale. Those that have the money to collect icons may buy one, but those that have to work day & night need a reliable tool, what Leica once ...

Re: Open-source camera could revolutionize digital photography

Very interesting innovation Jarle! Thanks for this hint. I am afraid that those with primary education only will not get much out of these cameras. As you announced rightly in your message 'giving programmers......the power'. I'll stick to my D1.

Re: Leica factory tour

Hi Jarle, it wasn't a camera to walk around on a city-trip. Mine was used in a laboratory on a tripod. The 'high speed' was 1 image per second (sic!) and there wasn't a CCD but the sensor scanned the viewfinder image. They have become rather rare; the price when new was sky-high and it was difficult...

Re: Leica factory tour

Hi, here some pictures of my Leica S1 High Speed, which I sold two years ago. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/nikon-nl/leicas1a.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/nikon-nl/leicas2.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/nikon-nl/leicas3.jpg It was a heavy but nice construction. Re: production of D1-series

Hi Jarle, over more than one year I've followed ebay (and other) sales and looked at the serial numbers. Nikon Corporation doesn't give production totals, so it is just an estimate.

Re: production of D1-series

Hi everybody, let me come back to this subject. I have collected some more info about production numbers of the D1-series; if someone is interested The D1 has come to some 40,000; the D1H to some 20,000 and the D1X just over 60,000 cameras. Making the D1H the rarest of them. My D1H produces better p...

Re: Caution when fitting film N90s to DCS back

Hi Jonathan, on ebay (USA) there are several F90's/F801's etc. offered; so you'll have a back, a battery door and that pin. Try ebay seller 'betteroffblu', who has a lot of old Nikon gear, maybe she (it's a Texan lady) has some parts as well, as she doesn't list everything. If not sent me your email...

Re: Flash trigger voltages with Kodak DCS bodies

I agree with our webmaster to try to find a Nikon SB flash. Many third brand flashes do have a high ignition voltage, so if you use more than one you'll have a problem. From Nikon SB-24 onwards you may use up to 5 flashes without problems. All Nikon based Kodak DCS bodies have the electrical circuit...

Re: Nikon D1x

Hi, in an interview at http://nikonimaging.com Mr. Kiyoshige Shibazaki, designer of the D1-series explains that the D1 (and D1H & D1X) sensor has 10.8 Mp, but in the technical specifications only 2.7 Mp (resp. 5.4) are declared. I have all three cameras and I like the D1H the most. It is fast, h...

Re: Kodak DCS 460 (which lens?)

Again, congratulations with the camera. For macro photography you could use a M42-Nikon adapter and/or a 39mm/42mm step-down ring so you can use EL-Nikkors (enlarging lenses). Concerning the CF-cards, you should use small CF cards (like 128 Mb) via that PCMCIA-CF-adapter and format them in the camer...
