Hi and welcome on board,
The E2 bodies can also use E3 series Ni-Mh batteries. The later E3 batteries can be charged using the original Nikon D1 chargers (MH-15 and MH-16), which are easy to find.
Do note that even if the batteries are interchangable, the chargers are not. Physically, the batteries are identical, but the charger plug is different. In other words, you'll need to use the correct charger for whatever battery you get.
If you can't find an original EN-1 battery, you can instead look for a Nikon EN-3 or Fujifilm BP-D56 (both E3 series batteries). You can also use a Nikon ES-1 AC adapter.
Until recently, some online stores actually sold some of these batteries, but I'm not sure if you'll find them any more. eBay is usually the best place to look. Remember that you don't need a Nikon branded battery. The Fujifilm batteries (for the DS-505, 515, 560 and 565 cameras) are the same.
Hope this helps.
