Hi,

I ran a few test shots on the D80 and it looks pretty good. We have a heron that was born on our pond a couple years ago and he is frequently here. So, he showed up and let me shoot him with the 70-300mm second lens I bought to go with the D80.

I did wind up taking the two batteries into my electronics shop and measuring their capacities. One was 26 mAh and the other 203. As I said: sad. Both were supposed to be 2000 mAh. I also checked the one which came with the D1H and it was 1595 mAH on a 2000 rating. So, that one is pretty good. I only bought one new pack for the D1H thinking the one that came with it was pretty good, and now I know for sure.

Hi,

Well, Li-Ion in this case. They don't really have a Rhyme or Reason to them. Some last a long while. Some not so long. Deep cycling them shortens their life. Maybe that happened. Camera use would tend to run one down until the camera quit. One pack was Nikon branded, so I bet it came with the camera. The other may well have been bought at the same time. Might have just been age. Doesn't really matter. Have new ones now.

The bad part is all this now has me thinking about upgrading my digital F5 with a Df.... :P. That was what I had in my mind for a DSLR way back when I bought the E2! And, I have a nice collection of AI lenses already. Leftovers from an F2, FE, and FA. All good ones. ;)

Ai Lenses are my favorites, i'm currently using a 28mm f2.8 ais, micro-nikkor 55mm f1:2.8, pre-ai Nikkor H 85mm f1:1.8, 105mm f1:1.8 AIs, 180mm f1:2.8 AIs and they are all superb, they can get really sharp pictures even with the gigantical sensor of the d800.

Df seems like a nice option, i like how behaves on high iso and the camera itself is really beautiful

Hi,

Yup. Got all those. All quite good. The physically smaller ones look lost on the 760, though. ;) They would be a much better fit on a Df. Heck, they are a much better fit on the D1H! :P

My wife with her D80 has the 'bug' now. Wanted to try some of my lenses. I had to tell her: 'Nope, don't work on that. Too old'. Ha! But I can use that to get a Df past her. Made in the Old School way for the great old lenses. ;)

Hi,

It is great to hear from you again!

It worked out well. I did get the Df, which won't ever leave. She used the D80 for a while but wanted something smaller. So I got her a D3500. Since that came with lenses, the D80 and its kit lens went to our oldest granddaughter just in time for her firstborn. :)

Last year, I had this NC lighthouse project I wanted to do. That needed more resolution than the Df or her D3500 had. And my old lenses were not really up to being used on a D850 or a Z7. So I returned to Medium Format with a Pentax 645D and a few lenses. That gear is way undervalued on the used market. And, that is also the last of the Kodak CCD line.

So, that is where we are right now, a Df, a D3500 and a P645D.

Maybe we should add the Df to the Nikon board here and the P645D to the Kodak board. Inject some new life to the old site. ;)
