Hi everybody,
today here in Holland (Enschede) all 10 Polaroid machines, availlable in the world, were brought together and are producing the Polaroid filmpacks again. As the brand name Polaroid is owned and used by a group of investers the new films will be marketed as 'Impossible'. So dig up your Pola-backs and shoot. In this instant photography each picture is unique; many artists were using these films. Good news, or?
Regards,
Nico

Not for long!!

The introduction of LCD displays in cameras killed Polaroid. There's no point beating a dead horse.

That is true only for the pros' polaroid backs on 35mm and medium format cameras. Otherwise there has been no subsitute for the instant print yet.

And my teenagers think Polaroid is cool. By comparison, dslrs are serious, and compacts can't compete with iphones and the like.

The "impossible project" will have several niches for itself:
The "cool factor", as long as that lasts.
The art crowd.
Test shots on large format cameras. Because there, even the repeated use of expensive polaroids beats a digital medium format or scanning back hands down, both on price and on convenience (I wish that were different).

I think that should be enough to make it a viable business for some time.

And now Polaroid itself announces a new Polaroid camera - the Polaroid 300:

"The camera and the film release in May, and if this is how the reborn Polaroid is hoping to stay afloat we're thinking the death of instant film is at hand -- again."
