$1121 for a rough-looking Nikon E2S!? No lens, no extras. That's insane.

21 bids. The winning bidder has no previous feedback. Another bidder raised the price from $275 to $1096! This entire auction smells fishy.. Will be interesting to check the feedback.

Hi,

Looks to me like someone was engaged in a run-up, all right. The winner was probably a spoiler. Looks like one to me, anyway, with the ID being newer than the auction start date. There are folks all over eBay that live to spoil an auction whenever they think something fishy is going on.....

....and here is the answere that I got.......

Hello. Thanks for your interest. As a matter of fact, the top bidder never came through so I am right now in the -second chance- phase and is listed at $1096 (I think), which was the second highest. If it doesn't go there...I will relist again. Just keep watching. Thanks again. - Natalie

There is a Nikon E3S New in Box for sale (800 euro) at www.kamera-express.nl (Click on 'occasion' than on the left on 'digitale fotografie' and scroll through the list of used digital gear). Reliable shop near Rotterdam.
Regards,
Nico

Wow. A brand new one? I've never seen a boxed E-series camera.

Unfortunately, 800 euros (approx. USD 960) is way too much for this old thing, IMO. Perhaps some of our Dutch friends can go take a few snapshots of the box? Would be cool to see one :)

(Anyone know what it looks like?)

Hi Jarle,
you may call the shop, ask for Peter Mercey (the boss) and he'll give you the details of the camera. He may even sent a picture. Mind you that Nikon gear sold in Europe may have other boxes etc. Nikon USA used several different boxes for their cameras and lenses. Especially in the 1990's there are a lot of sorts of packages.
Whenever I'll pass by in the shop I'll make a picture of the box (if it's still there).
Regards,
Nico

Hi Nico,

Thanks, that's very kind of you. I'd be happy to display the photo(s) here on Nikonweb.com, if you get a chance to get some. Feel free to contact me directly at webmaster @ nikonweb . com (remove spaces).

I've also got a E3 in the original box, along with the charger (it also had it's own box.) I'll get some pictures off to Jarle sometime.

It's a plain white box w/ black Nikon lettering, nothing fancy- not even the glossy type of paper, just rather plain white fiberboard.

I guess Nikon spent so much on the camera they couldn't afford $5 for a decent box. :-;

Thanks guys,

Nathan already sent me a few photos. I'll upload them soon.

The box isn't fancy, but this camera was hardly sold through 'normal' channels. I guess it didn't matter much what the box looked like..
