Re: Brace of Contax N Digitals on eBay

I wonder if there was ever e.g. an M42 - Contax N lens adapter? There have never been any adapters from 35 mm systems to Contax N. Adapters are impossible because of the long flange focal distance of 48 mm. Adapters were available for Contax 645 lenses at Contax N cameras. These adapters allowed fu...

Yes, of course. It was a typing error. Perhaps like the mentioned DS-505A 72000024 in the serial number thread? I ignored this and took it as 7200024.

Re: Exciting historical info from Kodak - incl. prod. numbers!

Thank you for the clarification about the cooperation between Kodak and Chinon. I only knew, that Chinon "disappeared" many years ago.

Perhaps there was already 1989 a cooperation?

Re: E-series production number estimate

I already made the attempt of a number system in the serial number thread . This attempt is a little bit outdated, because after this many numbers were added. Therefore I will it update here for an alternative estimation (the E2N 71000021 was not included, it is one of mine): 51: 5100025 E2 5100035 ...

Re: Exciting historical info from Kodak - incl. prod. numbers!

At the end of the document there is a complete list of all cameras and it's noted that these were not sold, but obviously they existed at least in prototype level. Thank you. Initially I did not see, that there a two tables. in Some cases the tables correct mistakes in the text, e. g. the DCS 520X ...

Re: Exciting historical info from Kodak - incl. prod. numbers!

Monochrome version of the 14n-family sensor would be something! It would solve the to biggest weaknesses of this sensor - color moire and color noise. 14 megapixel monosensor without aa-filter would produce very sharp images without so much jaggies. And it should exist! But was it ever sold regular...

Re: See My E Cameras.....

Actually, I think it does. Most of the serial numbers are actively collected on eBay, so it doesn't matter what the forum is called. Also, looking at the entire list, we have 60 recorded Nikon units vs 29 Fujifilm cameras. Obviously, we can't know for sure if the units sold on eBay (and those recor...

Re: See My E Cameras.....

It's easier to find the Fujix version. Why? Looking at the serial number list, we have seen twice as many Nikon units: 10 Nikon E3s, vs. 5 Fujix DS-565. That does not mean anyhing. This is the forum "Vintage Nikon DSLRs", not "Vintage Fuji DSLRs". Many of the Fujis will not be r...

Because they are so many and because we have a special subforum for them. They have their special thread: All Kodak Nikon models to date

Re: Kodak Digital Science SCS 2000

We already knew, that the SCS 2000 is technically nearly identical with the DCS 720X. Which of both is older, has not yet been clarified. The announcement date of the 720X was not 15 Sep 2001, but 4 June 2001 (announcement on dpreview). I thought to have found, that the SCS 2000 was mentioned before...

Re: Exciting historical info from Kodak - incl. prod. numbers!

Very interesting are the details about the DCS 100 variations and prototypes. But there are also new informations about unknown newer models. The DCS 660 and 760 have IR versions, there were monochrome versions of the 14 MP Kodaks, and there is a DCS 354c. But the most interesting is the D-5000. It ...

Re: Looking for a Kodak Dcs 720x

There is no doubt, that the 720X is the rarest of the "regular" Kodak DSLRs of the last years. Only the special models like the monochrome versions 660M and 760M and the prototype (?) SCS 2000 are rarer. The total number of about 1600 is derived from serial numbers. If you find a higher se...

SONY designed/made it, with Nikon's specifications. As they have been doing ever since. Read more here: http://www.nikonweb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=132 Do you have a source for this statement? The name "Sony" does not appear there, neither in the other page nor in the linked Nikon page ...

Who made the image sensor of the D1?

I cannot find a hint, who built the image sensor of the D1 (and D1H and D1X). It is known, that Nikon used Sony sensors later (beginning with the D100), but the special design of the D1 sensor is not known from any other camera. Does anyone know the developer and manufacturer of the sensor of the D1?

And the SCS 2000 is older than the 720X. I've never studied any of these cameras, so I don't know anything about the physical differences. Perhaps the SCS 2000 is simply an earlier model made for "government use" (e.g. military, law enforcement, etc.) that was later made public, as sugges...
