Re: Nikon unveils J1 and V1 mirrorless cameras
The most intriguing thing to me about these is the CX lens mount is I think Nikon's first all new lens mount since the original Nikon F, even the IX-Nikkors were still compatible with the F mount, even if the lenses weren't, and then it was only how far back the rear element extended. From the press...

Wanted: Memory card for DS-505, aka Nikon E2
Just need one that is known to work, scoured Ebay and tired of buying duds. Reasonable offer, message me as I'm not on here all the time.

Re: NC-2000e battery question
Thanks, that makes things a but more clear, I guess my mind went foggy and got confused between the 7.2V and 9.6V batteries. My DCS-620X runs just fine with only an external battery, but eh, they probably designed the older ones thinking it'd never be without the internal battery. Wiring into the ba...

NC-2000e battery question
I'm thinking of trying to bring my NC-2000e back to life, but have a question. The battery is long dead and has been disposed of, and the chargers are hard to find---I've only seen one on Ebay in a year and it went for over $80. I have a Quantum external battery (QB-5 with a cable I got somewhere) t...

Re: DCS-200 parts advice
Thanks, I saw the advice about taking the pin out on another forum and tried it, but no luck. It looks like it is correct the pin should be out as both my NC-2000e and DCS-420 are missing theirs. The hard drives have definitely gone bad as they won't even register now, but also I'm not sure if the N...

Re: Iconic "tank man" photo NOT captured with a Sony Mavica
Interesting article, thanks for the update on history. It's always surprising how what really happened doesn't coincide with the popular memory. (Although the stills from the BVU 330 could easily be mistaken for something from an MVC-5000). Regards the use of digital cameras in war zones, I heard ru...

Re: Nikon E-series memory cards - please report your findings
If it's FAT-12 with a 32MB limit, how are some of the larger cards like a Microtech able to work? Regardless, I did use mkdosfs to format the card with a 28MB primary partition, no luck. I think this card has the "high speed" pin not being asserted problem as the camera has rejected it in ...

Re: Nikon E-series memory cards - please report your findings
I tried it in my laptop, detected and recognized as a "Solid State File" with a FAT file system. I tried deleting the partition in case the camera for whatever reason needed to write it's own; in all cases I get the same results; the flashing "Change" icon. If anyone out there ha...

Re: Nikon E-series memory cards - please report your findings
I regret to report an IBM 80MB "Solid State File," part number 36H1757 from 1996, will not work in a DS-505.

Sony MVC-7000 gallery
OK, the 5000 is still balky; after swapping parts around I went from a servo error to the drive chattering and then reading 0 tracks on the disc. The 7000, OTOH, worked right out of the box; and is in great shape. The gallery is below: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=87946&l=e23bdeec41&...

Re: Sony Mavica MVC-5000
Well I've gone crazy. I have the following: One MVC-5000 body #10966 with a stuck/broken mirror mount, that gave up parts for: Second MVC-5000 body #10950, which was dirty and missing the little coin cell battery battery cover. The inside of the lower half was covered in a gunk that I can only descr...

Re: Nikon E-series memory cards - please report your findings
Here's some more info: These DSLRs use PCMCIA Type-I and Type-II form factor memory cards. They need to be of the 5 volt variety, or dual voltage (3.3v and 5v). None of the Compact Flash cards in a PCMCIA adapter will work, since CF cards are 3.3v. They need to be ATA type cards, not linear memory t...

Re: $5500 Nikon lens hood
I was going to say, for that price you could make a copy that looks just like the original and nobody would know the difference....for that kind of money I'd want a car, not a lens hood.

DCS-200 parts advice
So I'm back to getting at least one DCS-200 working reliably and have the same problems I did before. I'm thinking both internal hard drives I own have gone bad, as one pulls up 399 pictures, the other 149 when I think the drive only held 25, and half the time it won't fire, the other times it fires...
