Re: E2/E3 memory cards

there are a set of voltage pins on the PCMCIA cards that get set to show if they are 3.3v or 5v as well as the speed they run at, and all of the CF card adapters I know don't assert both the 5v pin *and* the High-Speed pin. So it's not really a card compatibility issue after all? Sounds more like a...

E2N

The E2N was my first 'vintage DSLR', bought on eBay for $380, including a working battery, charger, card reader, AC adapter, 40MB PCMCIA memory card, SCSI cable, a SB-27 flash and manuals. All in mint condition. Considering everything I think it was a great buy! A very cool camera, even if it's prac...

Re: Nikon D1

I think we should include D1,otherwise it may be the 3 of us forever! Hi Kiu, You're probably right! Not too many E-users around anymore. Probably never has been. I'm still trying to figure out how many such cameras were made. I'll soon post my findings (no big surprises I'm afraid) in another thre...

Re: Should we include the D1 as well?

I'd best head off to ebay and grab another one for the collection while they're still selling in the $500 range. Once the word gets out that the D1 is a vintage collector's item, I'll have to pay more for one! Don't worry. D1 prices will continue to drop. In another year or two you'll be able to ge...

Re: Nikon E-series model variants

I'll soon get a Fujix 565 (bought on eBay for $235), to keep my Nikon E2N company :)

I hope to post a small review/overview within a few weeks.

For more info on these early digital models (and most other Nikon equipment) I highly recommend the Photography in Malaysia website.

CF cards with PCMCIA adapter?

Apparently, many people have been successful using ordinary (?) compact flash cards with their older DCS cameras. I know there's a voltage issue with the Nikon E-bodies, and I assume it's the same with the Kodak cameras? I haven't tried very hard, put simply putting a 80MB (or 128MB) CF card into my...

Kodak 460C

Hi Stan,

A 1995 six megapixel camera. That's pretty impressive. I plan to get one of these myself in the not too distant future.

I'm a bit surprised that the 460 couldn't replace your E2 (a 6 megapixel SLR-like body vs. a bulky medium-format-like 1.5 megapixel camera). What's the catch?

Sure!

Hi Stan, Absolutely. Feel free to discuss these later models as well. They're all discontinued, and -- as I keep saying -- an important part of DSLR history. Let's collect and share as much useful (and not so useful) information as possible. Hopefully, this forum will become a treasure chest of info...

Re: Should we include the D1 as well?

Anyway, I have this feeling that perhaps ther original D1 might also fit into the moniker 'vintage'. Thoughts? I agree. Even though the original D1 was Nikon's first "real" digital SLR (and still a capable camera), most people will probably agree that it's bit outdated. Some faithful user...
