What I find amazing about the DCS series is how well the digital back integrates with the camera body. The reason is that all the data is made available for Nikon's own 'data back'. Wish I could replace the MF-23 'Multi-Control' back on my F4 with a digital one. If Kodak could make such a back for ...

Re: E2/E3 memory cards
So, the PCMCIA card limit is 96 MB as a result. You can't use larger cards and ignore the extra space. I tried that once and unfortunately the camera knew that the card was larger, and it couldn't use it, and errored out on me. Hi Stan, What errored out on you? The card or the camera? You couldn't ...

Re: They work on the Kodaks
I will note that the 400 series has a 512 MB limit, which is hardcoded into the things. So I should have no problems using a 'SiliconTech 448MB ATA Flash Storage PCMCIA' card (model 'SLATAFL448') then? Found a cheap 110 MB card on eBay yesterday (for my E2), but it cost $28 to send it to Norway usi...

Re: NIKON E Series collecting
On the other hand I see the kodak digital backs on F3's,F4's,F5's,N series cameras and even the pronea 6i,but to me all those are mainly digital backs and are not real digital cameras!!! You can not take the back off a E2 and put film in it. Good point - never thought of that. The E-cameras are 'mo...

What's the catch with the F5-based Kodak cameras?
The Kodak models built around the Nikon F5 body (DCS 620, 660, 720 and 760) looks very good on paper and are obviously very robust cameras. Why were they (at least the 760, the latest model) discontinued? I'd rather have one of these than Kodak's current SLR/n (I realize resolution is lower, but meg...

Canon Still Video Camera
Forgot to mention that I've actually handled Canon's Still Video Camera, around 1986 (I think):

I still have a small print from the camera. It was great at the time, not so good today

Thanks
Thanks for the tip, Nico. I'll ask him.
I don't really expect to find one of these (for sale, anyway) but I could get lucky. I know for sure I'll never find one unless I ask for it

Serial Numbers
As some of you know, I'm collecting serial numbers from these cameras. I may never get enough to make much sense, but it's worth a try. I plan to post my findings in another thread later. Not trying to be secretive or anything -- I simply need to collect my data. I've recently experienced both a bac...

Photoshop history
My first photo editor was Aldus Photostyler ver. 1.1, if I remember correctly. I later switched to Adobe Photoshop, like most people. I seem to remember that I used ver. 2.5 (the first Windows release), and I think I still have the original Photoshop 3.0 box (released in November 1994). Here's an in...

DCS200IR
You (or your company?) paid $16.000 for a DCS200IR in 1993? What did you use it for?

In general, I think we should download and post drivers and other information on these old cameras before it disappears. I found drivers for my DCS200 on someones personal site as Kodak no longer supples them. That's probably a good idea. Kodak support is excellent, but there's obviously a limit fo...

DCS 400 Series: How to Replace the Battery Pack
Came across this useful info on the Kodak website:

October 2016: Seems like some info is now missing from the original URL, but you'll still find the original page through the Wayback machine.

Nikon QV-1000C Still Video Camera
This very first 'electronic' 380.000 pixel Nikon was announced in 1998: http://nikonimaging.com/global/products/others/qv-1000c/index.htm According to one source, Nikon only sold about 100 such cameras. It would be interesting to hear from someone that have actually seen and used one of these. If yo...
