Custom fab shops
Stan, Thanks for your insight into the custom fab shops overseas... I realize now that they aren't the answer I thought they might be when looking for a way to make a DB... but in concept they sound neat. Is your company using one of the 3-D prototype machines that "sprays" a plastic-like ...

Cost of a digital back
Stan, Good analysis of my suggestion... obviously there would be a limited market for a digital removable SLR back... but a key point here is think of the installed user base of Nikon F5 users! I'm sure if youre looking to buy new, you wouldn't go buy a new F-5 and a new back; but if you already had...

Features not seen on newer Digital SLR's
I'll mention a feature from the DCS 200/4xx series... removable digital backs. Granted, those early digital backs were "grafted" on to the Nikon N90/s (and likewise the Canon EOS-1V for the DCS 1/3/5) and were only sold with a new body... but I think Kodak missed the market of selling back...

Oscar: I've emailed you at your gmail.com email address... I'm interested in the MS-8 battery holder and the Viking ATA flash card if you're not wanting them. I've done what you're trying to do... and it works, although it's not a perfect solution, it's a relatively cheap way to get a digital SLR ca...

New battery for 460C
Guest- The Kodak DCS 420 and 460 series have rechargeable NiCad batteries that are custom made and non-standard.. but they can be recelled by a commercial battery shop. In the United States, the company "Batteries Plus" has successfully recelled the battery packs- but you have to get the b...

Monochrome DCS
Unique and rare camera... yes.
Worth $9000... even to a collector... No. Even if you had a pressing need to take monochrome imagery... for 9000 you could buy a lot of film and pay someone to scan it.

Fujix DS-505, 515 & 505a manuals
I've scanned and sent the .pdf files to the webmaster, look for a link to be posted to them sometime in the next few days. The first manual is in 2 parts, 1st section is general operation , 2nd part is the "Advanced" features. 2nd manual is the addendum for the advanced features of the DS-...

E2/E3 serial numbers
I'm away on business, so I can't verify the numbers until next week.
I'll re-check those numbers, but I'd guess I've left a zero out of the 2nd number, should be 7300049 and 5200007.

DCS-100 not bought by the military
I'd have to agree with Brian, I was thinking that the military research labs would be on the forefront of technology and if anyone were to buy a DCS-100, it would be them... but I haven't seen any come from that arena. Even from the Air Force, I haven't seen any come from the Air Force Research Labs...

Military and government users...
I don't doubt that the military/ or the government used some of the DCS 100's... but I'm not seeing them come through the surplus auctions or sales like I would expect if they had bought say a hundred or two... and I've been tracking surplus auctions for over 10 years, well within the time frame of ...

# of DCS 100 producted
Another nagging thought, however... where/who were the 1000 users (or some smaller number) that could afford a $25,000 camera system in 1991? There was no internet to speak with, reliable cell-phone image transmission was still a few years away, and I don't recall seeing lots of digital B&W imag...

Collectors item...
Yes, I didn't think of that way... although the relative pricing was about the same between the DCS 100 and the theodolite.
Hopefully, this means that a few more cameras will show up sometime.
