Re: Nikon F4 DIGITAL camera flew on the Space Shuttle in '91
Some of the Engineers in the Naval Research Lab's Space Systems Division made it. The actual camera was developed by the Man-Systems Division at Johnson Space Center. The Naval Research Lab made the "HERCULES Attitude Processor (HAP)" for later DOD flights. For more info, see my ESC artic...

Re: More Nostalgia
:I sent a note out to my home boys at Kodak today, letting them all know about this thread on the forum.. Thanks Jay! Like I've mentioned before, this information is going to be increasingly difficult to find as time passes by. Now is a great opportunity to collect as much information as possible a...

Re: Original DCS
On the "DCS 100", keep in mind that while it was "current' this was never sold as a "DCS 100".. It was sold as the "DCS" ("Digital Camera System"). It was not tagged with the "100" until we annouced the "DCS 200".. Hi Jay, Nice to hea...

All Kodak Nikon models to date
The following list was recently posted in another thread (Early DCS models - how many were made?) but I think it deserves a thread of its own. Great reference. It even includes a few unknown models (to me, anyway), like a digital Nikonos! Thank you Wilfred and Phil! UPDATE - MARCH 2009: There's also...

Congratulations!
Okay, I bit. Went for an E3 with the faster optics. Congratulations Brian! So that was you? I was very tempted to bid myself, but shipping to Norway would have been $160 (I checked) plus an additional 25% value added tax (yes, even for used equipment). I decided to save the money this time (after a...

Re: Overseas Sales
Is the 7,000 number JUST For the DCS 420/460, or does it include the Canon version DCS 1/3/5? and the NC2000e? I forwarded your question to Kodak, and got this reply: 'Yes, that is all the numbers I could find and that's a guessitmate. Just for the 400 series that I could find serial numbers on. Th...

Re: Other differences
Hi Nathan,
Are you sure these are the 'same' models? I thought the Nikon and Fujix bodies were identical, except for the markings and - as it turns out - the red trademark Nikon stripe.

Re: Nikon F4 DIGITAL camera flew on the Space Shuttle in '91
I don't know squat about the F4, though, as I never owned one. I had an F2as, F2H, F3, FE and several FA's over the years, but never an F4. I'd send you mine, but I'm too attached to it (like most of my old gear) - and I actually use it from time to time. If all goes according to plan, I hope to se...

DCS 200
I am guessing that a lot fewer DCS200's were made, about 1/10th that of the DCS4xx series. Assuming 12.000 DCS4xx units, that would mean only 1200 DCS200 cameras. Sounds a bit low, doesn't it? Especially considering 'well below 2000' DCS100's being sold. I would think they made considerably more DC...

TIFF would be great
TIFF with metadata would be my preferred output format. Now I just need to get my DCS 200

Re: Reading Raw Formats: DCS200 as an axample.
Well done Brian!
I agree that your version is better. Will it work with DCS200 color images as well?
(When ready, I'd be happy to host your batch converter on nikonweb.com if you need a home for it.)
Thanks,
Jarle
