Correct. My DS-565 does not have the red line (my E2N does). Apparently a cosmetic difference between the Nikon and Fujix models.

Re: Early DCS models - how many were made?
I sent a mail to Kodak USA, asking nicely about DCS 100, 200 and 400-series production/sales figures. First reply: 'Unfortunately we can not provide that information mainly because that information is now archived due to its age and discontinuance.' My reply: 'Any chance some of your production or s...

Re: E-series Tiff file plug-in for Photoshop
Nikon View and Nikon Capture can also read the E-camera TIFF files (but they will not, for some reason, display any EXIF info - you'll need to use Windows Explorer instead: Pop-up menu > Properties). RAW PhotoDesk, a simple raw converter I've put together, will also open these files, using Nikon's o...

'E4' vs D1
After reading about the improved usage of the E3s vs the E2N, I have to sit here and daydream on what might have happened if Nikon had stuck to the basic E-series design and incorporated the D1's advanced imager behind the ROS to produce a 'full-frame' 2.75 MP DSLR...... I'm glad they didn't. I don...

Early DCS models - how many were made?
Being a DSLR history forum, it would be nice to establish how many of these early cameras were made (DCS 100, DCS 200, and DCS 400-series in particular). Asking Kodak about the Nikon F3-based DCS 100 I received this reply: "Accurate total numbers are not available but it was certainly well belo...

If it ain't broken..
Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! Hi Stan, Obviously, that's engineer talk (and I fully agree) :D Unfortunately, the business guys (and girls) don't always agree: "I know it works, but let's change it and make some more money!" (I'm sure it's not that simple, but it often feels that w...

Is this it?
There's a photo of a digital F4 on the Photography in Malaysia website ('F4 NASA model', near bottom of page): http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/special/specialnikon.htm Another source: http://apphotnum.free.fr/N2BE3n.html I assume this is it? I've contacted NASA and asked for ...

USB SCSI adapter?
Has anyone tried using a USB SCSI adapter with their DCS camera?
A Google search for USB SCSI adapter will produce several hits for such adapters, but I'm not convinced they'll work with an old DCS 200, for example.
Thanks,
Jarle

Nikon chargers
You're correct. The Nikon chargers will work: "The MH-15 is further compatible with the Ni-MH Battery Pack EN-3 for the Nikon E3/E3s" "The MH-16 can also be used to recharge or refresh EN-3 batteries for the E3 and E3s digital cameras and the MN-15 batteries for the F100 film camera.&...

Re: Nikon F4 DIGITAL camera flew on the Space Shuttle in '91
How hard could it be to convert a DCS460 to your F4? Wow! Cameras and manned spaceflight! My favourite subjects! I didn't know this. I guess there's hope after all :D Don't know how hard it would be to convert a DCS 460 to fit (and work) with my F4, but I know for sure I couldn't do it! Later Shutt...

Fujix DS-565 (aka Nikon E3S) arrived today
I finally got my new DS-565 (E3S) today. Not as nice as my E2N (which is like brand new), but still in very good shape. Paid $235 on eBay. A few first impressions: Battery wasn't charged (as expected), so I got my EH-1 Nikon charger only to find out that the plug doesn't fit! For some reason Nikon/F...

If you haven't already seen it, I've written a 'review' (kind of) at http://www.nikonweb.com/e2n/
