Re: "Zeiss SLR Lens Set with Case"

Hi Stan,
for 180 USdollars you can buy an adapter to place AI/S and AF-Nikkors (not G-Nikkors) on Leica M-bodies. Stephen Gandy (www.cameraquest.com) sells them. Good luck with finding a cheap M8.

Nico

Re: E series -- very first purpose-built DSLRs?

Hi, read 'Digital War Reporting' by Donald Matheson & Stuart Allan (ISBN-978-0-7456-4275-8), especially the last chapters, about digital reporting the Kosovo war. I was in Albania those days but haven't seen photographers with digital SLR's. Even worse :-) I have never seen reporters using the e...

Re: Iconic "tank man" photo NOT captured with a Sony Mavica

Hi Jarle, it is quite common among war photographers to 'produce' identical images of a certain happening. Since 2 or 3 decades most war correspondents are embedded and are together working on the same spot. In earlier wars they weren't embedded, like the late AP-photographer Eddie Adams, who receiv...

Re: Nikon E-series memory cards - please report your findings

Hi friends,
in November last year I offered a Toshiba 20Mb Flash memory card ATA. Nobody reacted. If someone wants this card (for FREE, just pay the stamp), which can be used on Nikon E-series, just let me know.
First come, first served!!

Nico

Mini-digi-Nikon F?

Hi friends,
long time ago I've seen a mini-digital Nikon F, I think made by Minox. It had the body of a Nikon F but in a smaller scale and with a 1 Mp. back. Does anybody know where to find this cute camera?
Thanks & regards,
Nico

Re: eBay end of year DCS sale?

Hi too! I think this is one of the many waves we have had and will have. I'm old enough to remember the dumping of RF bodies when the SLR's arrived; the huge loads of Nikon F's and Nikon F2's when (after showing a cold shoulder) the (automatic) Nikon F3 arrived; a load of MF bodies when the (relativ...

Re: Fastest lens?

As the working distance is extremely short I've removed the rear lens group (2 elements) and replaced it by a Nikon eyepiece correction lens (+1) in order to increase the exit pupil (aka Ramsden disc) and working distance, which is 50 cm. now. See below the results. I am going to try to use other le...

Re: Fastest lens?

Hi Kiu, I used a BR-2 ring with a rubber clamp. I am still working on a serious mount. I need a (step up/down) ring with 80mm. thread. DOF is almost non-existing and infinity isn't possible when mounted on a SLR. Maybe I'll convert an old Coolpix. The difference between the Rayxar and the f/1.2 - Ni...

I like your sense for humor, Kiu! A 1969 Playboy Calender = NASA Memorabilia?
What did those guys do up there? Scientific research? Of what?

Fastest lens? (f/0.75 x-ray lens)

What can you do when it is cold outside and you're free? Just play a bit with strange optics: here one of the world's fastest lenses ever build on my Nikon D1. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/nikon-nl/image0002.jpg This lens was made for X-ray devices; there are versions with focal lengths of ...

Re: Nikon Coolpix 100, E-100 on eBay

Has anybody seen the results of the recent Westlicht Auctions (www.westlicht-auction.com) ? The Coolpix 100 NIB went for 100 euro. Some NASA gear and Nikon RF gear fetched a lot of money (up to 140,000 euro!). BTW: I have now a Coolpix 100 & 300. It might take some weeks but then there will be a...

Re: What is the best flash unit to use with a 560?

Hi Stan, I am not familiar with Canon flashes but I do know that Metz has/had several flashes that work(ed) on the older Canon digi-SLR's. So have a look or ask at www.metz.de for the best flash gun. You probably need an adapter on the hot shoe, but why not give it a try. Regards, Nico www.nicovandi...

For sale: 20 MB PCMCIA memory card

Hello! Anybody interested in a 20 Mb. PCMCIA flash memory card (Toshiba). Can be used - as you all probably know - on older digital cameras, like the Kodak/Nikon versions.

BTW: wouldn't it be odd when Nikon invents its own connector? If it is an existing connector someone else must have marketed it, or.......?
